Bridge Over the River Cole – photo ©Christopher J Cart 2014

Of historical note this is the river that J. R. R. Tolkien played and walked along in his childhood, using this experience as inspiration in formulating “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy. He probably walked across this 'foot-bridge' during his many escapades through the “shire”. The bridge is known as “Four Arch Bridge”, of which only two arches are visible because I wasn’t wearing my 'wellies' that day. The bridge is in Swanshurst Park, Birmingham, UK.
